2001 was Brookside's twentieth year of production.

House by House[]
5 Brookside Close[]
Jerome has an affair with Nisha Batra. Mick and Yvonne decide to try to make a go of it, and Yvonne moves in. Leo sleeps with Adele Murray and gets her pregnant. Mick makes him leave Liverpool. Mick proposes to Yvonne but she leaves him, taking Jerome with her. Emily and Tim move into No. 10 and Mick is left alone. Jimmy manages to talk around a suicidal Mick who then decides to leave the Close for a fresh start.
6 Brookside Close[]
Ray and Jessie get married. Emily goes topless for some glamour shots and Tim is shocked and teased when he sees them in a magazine in prison. Jessie buys the bungalow. Tim and Emily are reunited when he gets out of prison and they marry. Nikki proposes to Jerome and he accepts. At their engagement party Nikki cracks - she's known about hsi affair all along. The relationship is over.
7 Brookside Close[]
Jacqui tries to help Max get over Susannah's death. He allows her more input into Harry's upbringing and they start a relationship. Jacqui moves in with Max but Robbie kidnaps baby Harry. Harry is recovered safely but there is no evidence to link Robbie to the crime. Max confesses to Jacqui about Susannah's death but the couple still marry.
8 Brookside Close[]
Mike is told he will be confined to a wheelchair as his and Rachel's financial problems get worse. Ron, Anthea, Jessie, Ray and his mother Kitty are bound and gagged with the Dixons' is raided at Robbie's behest. Robbie burgles the Dixon household again and Ron is furious. Tim gets Ron a gun and when Robbie returns to the house again, Ron shoots Clint who had only gone in to get Robbie out. With Anthea uncertain whether she can lie for Ron in court about the shooting, their marriage breaks-up and she leaves. Ron's found not guilty of murder and manslaughter, but receives a nine month prison sentence for pleading guilty to the possession of a firearm.
9 Brookside Close[]
Diane loses the baby. Marty borrows money to pay for IVF, but the treatment is unsuccessful. Anthony is being bullied at school by two girls, Imelda and Paige. Adele discovers she is pregnant by Leo and despite pressure from Diane, she goes through with an abortion.
10 Brookside Close[]
After Jackie tells Jimmy about Shelley, he moves into the extension and starts divorce proceedings. Despite a brief reconciliation, Jackie and Jimmy separate. Tim and Emily move in. Jimmy holds a family reunion for his 50th but only Rod comes. Lindsey leaves for a job in Newcastle. At Christmas, a failed lorry-jacking job sees Tim almost drowning in the Mersey.
Brookside Parade[]
Bev marries Lance's Brazilian boyfriend, Fred, so he can stay in the country. Katie and Clint plan to leave for Spain but after he is killed by Ron, Katie falls into a depression. Darren and Victoria make a spur-of-the-moment decision and leave. Convinced by Leanne that the authorities are after her, Bev goes on the run leaving Leanne in charge of the bar. Sammy Rogers returns and tries to set a honey trap for Max.
